MAHOWLO by Ms. Cayton

Senior’s of Class of 2014 had a Luau Fundraiser.This Luau was chaired by Melissa Cayton and teamed up with Senior Parents & Students to raise funds for the senior drug/alcohol free party. (Committee chair person’s involved the parents of Miranda Cabral, Antonio “Tone” Pulido, Jay Allen & Katie Sixour, Parents are: Melissa Cayton, Lizz Pulido, April Allen, Vicki Sixour).

There were over 250 guests, elegant settings, tables, candles and orchid flowers. As the crowd trickled in, each person was greeted with one of our senior Lei Greeters and seated by Senior Ushers.We had hundreds of dollars worth of donated gift certificates, specialized items, a signed Blazer Basketball and more. Our seniors had a “Shaka Brah” Shop selling Island Gear: Hawaiian shirts, lei’s, coconut bra’s, and Hawaiian Jewerly.  There was also a Wacky Hawaiian Photo Booth for those that wanted their pictures taken with their friends or family!

The Dinner was a fully catered Hawaiian Plate, Drinks and VIP tables that had goodies and dessert . The exciting part of the event was the live Polynesian Show. Ms. Cayton’s dance group “Aloha Productions Polynesian Revue” and live Portland’s popular Island Reggae Band “BackLine” had played live island music, as well as the show’s music.

During the show, there was a wide variety of dances from Hawaii, Tahiti and Samoa. Ms. Cayton and daughter Miranda Cabral had performed a Fire Tahitian dance and their fire knife dancer did the Samoan FIre Knife dance. Seniors Lexi Veatch, Sabrian Frasier, Ashley Domingo, Kailey Herren, Shahleigh Green, Amanda & Alanda Demson, had danced two numbers, which was taught and choreographed by Ms. Cayton.

In the show, Mr. Crain, Ms. Colantino and had a moment to shake their booty in a hula lesson and Crain in the Tahitian Dance off.

It was an amazing event!
